A glass vase

As part of a glass design course, the assignment was to create a product that also serves as a form of protest.

Glass was a new material for me, so I decided to stick to basic shapes. I designed a traditional vase that works beautifully as a standalone flower vase and forms a harmonious group when arranged in pairs or sets of four.

The core idea of the concept, however, was its presentation in our Protestilasi exhibition. I wanted to offer a reminder of what lies beyond the horizon and beneath the surface—the plastic waste ending up in our oceans. Each vase contained different types of plastic waste commonly found in marine environments, based on research. I submerged these items in tonic water rich in quinine, which glows under UV light.
